Corinth Pernell
Corinth's Story
From Financial Stress to Homeownership
What began as a desire to better understand her finances became a journey toward greater confidence, stability, and homeownership.
Corinth was introduced to the Financial Wellness Institute (FWI) through her employer, which partnered with FWI to provide financial education and coaching through its Financial Education in the Workplace Program.
Through interactive Lunch & Learn seminars focused on budgeting, credit, and making money work more effectively, Corinth gained practical tools to begin addressing her financial challenges. She then took the next step, enrolling in one-on-one financial coaching available through her employer.
Over nearly two years, FWI provided ongoing education, guidance, and support. At the time, Corinth was facing financial uncertainty, limited savings, and a low credit score. Homeownership felt like a distant goal.
Together with FWI, she developed a customized financial plan focused on understanding her complete financial picture, improving her credit, managing her budget, reducing debt, and building savings.
The results were significant.
Corinth paid off multiple debts, increased her credit score by more than 50 points, enrolled in her employer-sponsored 401(k), and began consistently saving for her future. More importantly, she gained the knowledge and confidence to manage her finances with purpose.
Today, Corinth has met the pre-qualifying guidelines for homeownership and has sufficient savings in place as her mortgage application moves toward pre-approval. She is officially on track to become a homeowner in 2026.
Corinth rates her FWI experience a “10 out of 10.”

Her journey demonstrates the power of accessible financial education, ongoing support, and a plan built around individual goals.
